About Us

Our Mission

Juan Morel Campos School of the Arts is an inclusive and supportive community where students in Grades 6-12 explore and discover talents to enrich their lives.

Our Vision

We, at Juan Morel Campos School of the Arts, through faculty, staff, parent, and student leadership, are committed to providing an environment that:

  • develops academic and creative talents,
  • integrate the arts, mentorship, and leadership with classroom activities,
  • collaborates with families to support student growth,
  • celebrates diversity, growth, and progress, and,
  • provides targeted interventions and support cycles.

Special Programs

All students at Juan Morel Campos School of the Arts are enrolled in a talent course (band, chorus, dance, drama or visual arts) which is part of their daily program during school.  Students build the talent of their choice through a 7-year sequence of courses that culminates in graduation, and post-secondary opportunities in their talent area.

JMCSS partners with the College Bound Initiative (CBI) which provides the school with a full-time college counselor.  This counselor works with students in grades 6-12 to build college readiness through college preparatory experiences.  Because of the counselor's efforts, our students are able to visit colleges, attend SAT prep courses, and receive application and admissions assistance as they approach graduation.

Extracurricular Activities

Students at JMCSS have access to after school tutoring, arts, and athletic programs.

Students in all grade levels (Grades: 6-12) who are English Language Learners (ELLs) are enrolled in additional instructional periods after school and on Saturday mornings.  The school is also implementing a more expansive after-school program that will be open to all students.

This program will provide students with additional academic supports and a wider array of club opportunities.

High school students have access to PSAL sports, including boys and girls basketball, softball, baseball, co-ed handball and girls volleyball. Clubs will include step, theater, photography, journalism, etc.
